At Asha Madhavan DDS, we do our best to make you feel relaxed and at ease during your visits with us. One of the ways we do this is by offering the services of a dental therapy dog. As a therapy dog, Dogtor Ziggy’s main job is to help reduce stress and anxiety, and he’s a master at it! If you are nervous during your visit, Ziggy can sit next to you, letting you pet or cuddle him and helping reduce anxiety about your dental treatment.
Even if you are not nervous, Ziggy can make your visit fun, taking your mind off your dental procedure and having you focus on him instead.

- What is a typical day for dogtor Ziggy? His duties include sleeping all day, letting the occasional patient come in and pet him, to spending an entire visit in the operatory with a patient while we perform their dental treatment. He’ll be happy to sit with you and loves being petted and having his head scratched.
- How do I request a visit with Ziggy? Scheduling appointments with Ziggy is easy. When you set up your appointment, let us know you would like to meet him, and we will be happy to schedule him for you. If you are scheduling an online appointment, add a comment in the online appointment form requesting his company.
- What if I am afraid of dogs or have allergies?
When Ziggy is in the office, we will let you know about his presence when you check in. When not on duty, Ziggy stays in a separate area of the office, and there are designated “dog-free” zones. You never need to come into contact with him. Just let our team know, and we will be sure to take extra precautions to keep him isolated from you.
